What's important
This summer I decided that when the kids got out of school that we would read, do math, stay away from t.v. all the things that keep kids smart and make Moms insane:) But as the summer began I decided, who cares! This is summer break, if they rot in front of the t.v. (or video games), if they spend all day inside when it's a beautiful day, if they eat breakfast at 10:00 a.m. and dinner at 9:00 p.m., if they stay up late, if they don't take a shower for days on end, who stinkin' cares? Not me! What's important is that they feel happy at home, like they can roam free and without care. We have minimal chores and no obligations this summer. No piano, no gymnastics and it's sooooooo nice to be together. We play more, we laugh more, we (as parents) give in more, we are spontaneous and relaxed. I love summer, I guess it just brings out the best in me.
